More Specialty

Here is the main specialty piece for Sig Samuels. It is a laundry bag that will be mainly used for dropping off and picking up laundry from Sig Samuels. The idea would be to give these bags to their most frequent customers. It has the customers name on it so they can tell who's who. This also speeds up the process of dropping their clothes off. Here's the bag I made and screen printed.

Specialty Signage for Sig Samuels

Howdy folks. We are coming to a close and here are some things a came up with for Sig Samuels Dry Cleaning.

I really wanted to incorporate the logo back into the structure that it was designed after. Here is a mock up of how the sign would look. I wanted it to be backlit to give a floating effect. Here is how it looks!

Here is detail shot of what it would look like.

So here is what I am thinking for the critique

Here are the layouts for all the sizes. Im gonna sit on it for a bit then print. Any thoughts?

Layout for 8.5x11

Sig Samuels Struggles

So my idea was to overlay quotes over the photos to show case the hard working women in the back.  I am having trouble getting everything to look right. I am working with the 3 colors of my logo and they are not popping out. I am also not sure if I should keep in color of take to black and white. I have not written the body copy yet so I still have to fit that in at the bottom. Lots of hurdles...

Here is a quick screen shots of where I am. Still a long way to go.

What I took away from my new friends at Sig Samuels

It's not so much about the clothes themselves but more about the people who wear them. Its about making their lives just a little bit easier. Every customer that walked in the front door had a smile on their face. The folks behind that counter treated everyone like they ran that dry cleaner just for them. They told me it weird that we get so excited about dry cleaning, but hey we are glad we can help out the community. "99% of the people that walk through that door can make your day better if you let them." Sig Samuels has been run by 3 generations of the Collins family. What they have done is create an extended family with their employees and even create a larger family with their customers. That's something that I have never seen before in a company.

Enough blabbing...I probably have to make these ads. These are some more portraits. Unfortunately, I don't know how I am going to utilize them in my ads.

Sig Samuels cont...

So I went back to talk and take more photos of the ladies behind Sig Samuels. I was completely drawn to this lady named Elizabeth McGill. She has been in the business for 35 years. When I asked why she did it, she responded "Its a generation thing. It's Tradition." This photo is one of my favorites.

This American Life

Stan's video about the creative gap reminded me of This American Life. This video is one of my favorites. Story telling at its best. Thank you Ira Glass.

Critique Time

Well this is what I have come up with for the mailer. Ideally after opening this would be hung in the laundry to help you out with washing your clothes. Here is what it would look like.
