Block Font

Howdy!

I chose to do my block of font on my home block. I found the block packed with type. Good and bad of course. Here are the highlights!

Peace Poster

Im worried that theres too big of jump from peace...to dove...to dove egg hatching

Things I have noticed around town...

Lowes is killing it with their fall signage. Boom.

Creative Loafing used the whole registration marks thing in their latest issue.

One of their pages was printed off register as well (not on purpose). Probably should have actually used the registration marks.

Some good typography on the Ramen noodle flavor packet. Kinda really gross. Glad USA is taking pride in making chicken flavor.

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q ad in creative loafing. Nice and clean. The ad was a thank you by the Atlanta Falcons.

Inspiration

Frank Lloyd Wright:

Yes, his work really speaks to me but it is really the time in which he designed. It is truly remarkable what was going on in the time period when he worked. I think thats incredibly daring to what he did. Its inspiring. Its remarkable.

This was all going on when this was the norm...

Charles and Ray Eames

I am in awe of these two. Im inspired because they were inventors. Their design reach was enormous. They were photographers, film makers, painters, architects, and industrial designers. It amazes me that they were able to design and be successful throughout all of those fields. Their work in revolutionizing the bent plywood is amazing. I just wish now that I could afford some of their work...

Massimo Vignelli

I just watched a documentary on him and his wife. His work is astounding and beautiful. He is famous for being the superstar of using 4 fonts. His work portfolio is enormous. The thing that inspires me most is the fact that he was kind to all. He didn't treat the little people as little people. I am discouraged by the great designers who are known as terrible to work for...
